It was just a matter of time, but the time has come and the Equus is here. Sort of.
The 2011 Hyundai Equus was unveiled at the 2010 New York Auto Show, and by the looks of it, it almost looks as if it was a Lexus or a Mercedes-Benz. Many design cues came from these competitors models, but the Equus is, without a doubt, it’s own individual car with it’s own unique characteristics and will likely make a big dent in Lexus and Mercedes-Benz sales.
“Equus takes Hyundai’s formula for intelligent luxury to a new level,” said John Krafcik, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America. We’ve applied the lessons in engineering excellence we’ve learned with Genesis to the Equus, while adding a new level of customer experience that will further differentiate our take on luxury from the traditional premium brands.”
The Hyundai Equus comes in at 4,376 lbs and is powered by a 4.6-liter Tau V8 engine that produces 385 horsepower and 333 lb-ft torque on premium gasoline.
The Hyundai Equus has many of the technological amenities found in luxury sedan, including the Driver Information System (DIS), XM Satellite Radio, HD Radio technology, hands-free Bluetooth telephone system, and so much more! The Hyundai Equus is also equipped with the Lexicon audio system, which includes a 13-channel digital amplifier and 17 speakers producing 608 watts of sound.
The Hyundai Equus is expected to sell in the United States with price range in the mid $50,000 range.
