MATTESON, IL – In the case you have a Toyota in the driveway next to your Hyundai, we wanted to share this breaking safety information with you. If we can be of assistance to you in the event that you may need a loaner vehicle and your Toyota dealership does not have one available, we will do everything possible to help. We have put additional units into loaner status and will make this offer to any Toyota customer who needs help. We will do this for as long as we are able to supply loaner vehicles. While not an official position by Hyundai, we feel that this is a natural extension of the Hyundai Assurance program…it’s intent is to make those associated with the Hyundai product aware that Hyundai and it’s dealers are here for you in good times and bad. We know that these are some pretty rough times and if this helps in some small way, we are glad to do it.
Toyota to halt sales of many vehicles for sticking accelerator pedal.
Toyota is temporarily halting the sales of many of it’s passenger cars and trucks in order to research why the accelerator pedal has stuck in some instances.
These vehicles are currently under recall. Now, Toyota is taking the extraordinary step (I can’t recall a time when this has happened before) of literally pulling them off the showroom floor and halting production lines.
The models affected are:
- 2009-2010 RAV4.
- 2009-2010 Corolla.
- 2009-2010 Matrix.
- 2005-2010 Avalon.
- Certain 2007-2010 Camrys.
- 2010 Highlander.
- 2007-2010 Tundra.
- 2008-2010 Sequoia.
- Vehicles that are NOT affected include Lexus and Scion vehicles, the Toyota Prius, Tacoma, Sienna, Venza, Solara, Yaris, 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, Land Cruiser and select Camry models, including all Camry hybrids, which will remain for sale.
- Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Canada (Corolla, Matrix and RAV4).
- Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana (Sequoia and Highlander).
- Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky – Line 1 (Camry and Avalon).
- Subaru of Indiana Automotive (Camry).
- Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas (Tundra)
The sales halt means a production stoppage for the week of Feb. 1 at the following plants:
“Helping ensure the safety of our customers and restoring confidence in Toyota are very important to our company,” said group vice president and Toyota Division general manager Bob Carter. “This action is necessary until a remedy is finalized. We’re making every effort to address this situation for our customers as quickly as possible.”The stuck accelerator pedal has been a mystery to Toyota, which first advised drivers to remove the floor mat as a preventive measure.
